How to Install Rockcon^® System Properly to Realize Slope Stabilization?

Slopes are made for railway formation, highways, embankments, earth dams and many other construction projects. The slope stability is of great importance as its failure may cost a large number of human lives or cause great economic loss. Therefore, ensuring slope stability and preventing slope failure are essential.

Establishing an active slope protection system is a good way to increasing slope stability and preventing slope failure. Here, we'd like to take Rockcon^® system as an example and briefly introduce the Rockcon^® system installation procedures for active slope protection.

STEP 1 Remove loose soil and weatherized rocks that may threaten the construction safety and properly level the local terrain that may affect the Rockcon^® system installation and performance.
STEP 2 Stake out soil nail positions. According to the topographic conditions, the nail spacing may deviate within 0.3 m. Within the allowable adjustment range of nail spacing, the nail position can be selected at places as low as possible.
STEP 3 Drill holes at the specified location and the hole depth shall be at least 5 cm higher than the designed length of the soil nail.
STEP 4 Clean the drilled holes with high compressed gas to ensure there is no blockage in the drilled holes.
STEP 5 Grout and insert soil nails into drilled holes and ensure the nail inserted at the center of the hole. The drilled hole shall be filled up with grouting and dry it up for at least 3 days.
STEP 6 Lift the Rockcon^® mesh rolls to the top of the slope and fix the Rockcon^® mesh at the top of the slope with rope anchors, boundary ropes and wire rope clips.
STEP 7 Unroll the Rockcon^® mesh from the top to bottom of the slope and connect two adjacent Rockcon^® mesh panels with connection clips.
STEP 8 Place corresponding spike plates above drilled holes and fasten the Rockcon^® mesh onto the slope surface with inserted soil nails and nuts.
STEP 9 Install the left and right boundary ropes and then install the bottom boundary ropes to make the Rockcon^® mesh form an integral slope protection system.
STEP 10 Tension the Rockcon^® system and check if all connection parts are firmly connected. When all jobs are well done, the Rockcon^® system installation is finished.
